Children of the Universe - Party Manifesto.

We are all made of stars, so party on regardless of how messed up the world is. That's right. This manifesto outlines the case for partying, logically derived from scientific findings and ethical principles.

The twilight zone was mad but reality is more bizarre. Your body is made of quarks, a form of energy. Albert Einstein once mentioned that e=mc2, so we can calculate the energy condensed to matter in the human body and express that in terms of Atom bombs. 'Little Boy' released about 63 Trillion Joules at Hiroshima (chill geeks it's in the ballpark).
A moment of silence in respect for the dead.

Body Mass: You have the energy of ~ Hiroshima bombs.

Probably best if you don't detonate1, deep breaths. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, so our body energy dates back to the birth of our universe and likely far earlier in the multiverse - we're all at least 13.5 billion years old. Look at your hand and think about that for a bit. If our quarks had wee brains they might remember earlier lives in a cloud of hydrogen, forming stars then exploding as supernovae, being in planets, colliding with other galaxies and so on. Far from being insignificant noobs in the vast reaches of space, we've been in the thick of it all along and have an ancient heritage.

We're much more important than that though. There may be other life out there, even intelligent life, but all we can see right now is that the story of increasing complexity in the observable universe reaches its pinnacle with intelligent life, us. It looks like we are the headline act in the virgo supercluster of galaxies, earth is where the party is. Our minds borrow a body for a relative instant of galactic time, but this is our time, and we get to decide what to do with it.

Papsnaps Lifetime Perspectivator
I was born: I expect to live until age give it to me straight

Idealists don't get the fact that we can't form a 'perfect' society from imperfect beings, but just as randomly shaped rocks can make a wall that's straight enough, we diverse humans have common cause to organise ourselves well enough to sustain in peace with each other and in harmony with our life support system. The majority will agree to a fair deal once it is seen beyond this mire of all out economic war.

The big challenges we humans face are like colossal boulders that need billions of people to shift in co-operation, no individual can take it all on their own shoulders - they will be crushed. That doesn't amount to a case for inaction as a problem ignored is not a problem solved, rather, when you act, make it count.

The rest of your finite time here, forget about trouble with a capital T. Solving problems deserves some of your time budget, not all of it. We need time and space to heal, relax, and have fun. The notion that no-one is to have a good time while anyone else suffers is a plan for universal misery. No matter how bad things get it's good to know that somewhere there's a party. That keeps hope alive for the suffering. Furthermore, by gaining balance in your life you become more effective at helping others in need.

Grigori Rasputin (did not abide)
Finally, a word to the wise - know the difference between contentment and a high. Rock stars sing at length about getting high but look at the state of them after a few years of it and that's with the best medics. Instant gratification is not a universal elixer because excessive pursuit of it comes at the expense of contentment.

Healthy relationships and satisfaction in your hard won achievements are the primary raw materials of your inner foundation, that's what you build on, without it everything crumbles and you get trapped in the rubble of your broken dreams. Or worse, the graveyards are full of sad fools who got so much handed to them on a silver platter that they forgot the value of making an effort to care about others, then destroyed themselves trying to fill the ever more harrowing inner void of worthlessness in a hedonistic binge of drugs or alcohol. The rest of their time they wasted. But seriously, avoid extremes as you would a dose of ebola, it's far better if the dude abides.

Work to live, live to love, you are as free as a bird now go forth and PARTY!

Footnotes
1 Don't worry we can't detonate like an A-Bomb since we don't have the requisite heavy elements like Uranium.
